Goals and AGU

I am mostly in the planning stages of quite a few big things. I recently moved back to my homeland which has been delightful, but a bit stressful. I think what my life needs is a little (*karate kicks the air*) ACTION! Here's what I'm scheming...

Geo-projects
-This blog: start weekly post, continue exploring Southern California geology and start writing about it.
-Presentation to high school physics class. My high school physics teacher was a huge inspiration in my pursuit of science, and I pitched the idea of this presentation a long time ago. If you're reading this Mr. L, we will be in touch soon.
-Applying to graduate school. I am well into the stages of this. First app is due in a week.
-Start meeting more geologists in San Diego!

Bike-projects
-I am really interested in becoming more of a bike commuter in the traffic clogged streets of San Diego. The other day I realized that I would rather bike an hour and a half than sit in 20 minutes of traffic. I am hoping to fix up my janky fixie/singlespeed Leroy (Centurion Le Mans Circa 90's) into a bonafide commuter bike. This is going to require a lot of parts and patience.

Here's some local resources I will be using for this project:
Bikes De Pueblo - A San Diego bike kitchen
SD Bike Commuter - Forum of SD gearheads
SD MTB Association - For when I get frustrated and need to hit the trails

Food-projects
-My padre has been home brewing since I was a little one with a rock collection. It is time for this to be passed to the next generation.

As many geo-folk know, next week is the annual American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting in San Francisco. I have ambitiously added myself to the blogroll. This will be my first time at AGU and I plan to be meeting with potential advisers, catching up with friends and learning about great science research. I am not entirely sure what kind of things I will be blogging about but I have some ideas. I am really looking forward to meeting all of the geotweeps, geobloggers and other souls in the geoblogsphere.
